Subscribing

Subscription to cragnet is open to (and encouraged for) Cragmont families, teachers, and staff. There may be BUSD staff also subscribed to the list (e.g. for forwarding BUSD information to the school community.) The list is refreshed every year from the school registrations and signup sheets from the opening days of school.

However, there may be times when you need to subscribe to the list -- if you change email addresses, are new to the school, we overlooked your email address, etc.

Here is how to subscribe:

1. Go to the "NetPals" web site that hosts the list and follow the instructions there:

1. Send a subscription email message to listserv@netpalslsoft.com. You should send a message like this:
To:     listserv@netpals.lsoft.com
Subject:     Any subject: E.g. please subscribe me to cragnet
Message:     subscribe cragnet FirstnameLastname
Your school affiliation: Parent (Your child's name, grade, and class), Teacher, Staff, District

You will be subscribed with the address you are sending the message from. The first line of the message subscribes you to the cragnet list at the Netpals service. Firstname and Lastname are your first and last name. The second line (and anything following) should provide enough information for us to confirm your affiliation with the school.

2. You will get a confirmation email from the list. Follow the instructions in it. This step is necessary to confirm your email address.

3. A message is sent to one of the list administrators. They will confirm your association with Cragmont and then confirm your subscription request.

4. You will receive a final confirmation email when your subscription has been completed.


Posting to the list / Sending an email to cragnet

To send a new message to cragnet, compose an email like this:
To:     cragnet@netpals.lsoft.com
Subject:     Please describe your subject accurately
Message:     Please send "plain text" messages if possible to the list so that people don't have problems reading any fancy formatting.

And then send it!

Your message will be posted to the list within a few minutes time. It will appear under the subject like "[CRAGNET] your message".


Unsubscribing

To remove your email address from the cragnet email list either use this web page:

or send an email  message like this:
To:     listserv@netpals.lsoft.com
Subject:     Any subject: E.g. please remove me from cragnet
Message:     signoff cragnet


Get a Password

In order to read the online archives, you need to get a password for your subscription. This is easy to do:

1. Take your web browser to:
http://netpals.lsoft.com/SCRIPTS/WA.EXE?GETPW1 or just click here.

2. Fill in your email address and requested password.

3. Check your in box -- a confirmation email should be there shortly with a subject line like
Command confirmation reque.

4. Follow the instructions in the confirmation email.


Viewing Archives

All messages sent to the Cragnet email list are saved in an archive. In the archive the messages are organized by month. To get to the archive you will need to log into the Netpals server with your subscription password.

To view the archives:

1. Log in to the Netpals server by taking your web browser to:
http://netpals.lsoft.com/SCRIPTS/WA.EXE?LOGON or clicking here.

2. When you are logged in, you are taken to a list of all netpals email lists. Not too helpful for your task! Just below the upper left corner of the page is a button labeled "Subscriber's Corner". Click on that.

3. You should see a "My Lists" section of the page. The Cragnet list should appear there. Click on "Cragnet".

4. You should now see a list of months -- clicking on any month brings up that month's email messages.


Changing your settings

The Netpals service offers several options for customizing or changing your email list subscription.

To access the settings:

1. Log in to the Netpals server by taking your web browser to:
http://netpals.lsoft.com/SCRIPTS/WA.EXE?SUBED1=CRAGNET or clicking here.

2. When you are logged in, you should now see a web form with a bunch of settings, including your name and email address. This is where you make your changes.

Here are some of the most common needed settings:

Your name
Made a typo in your name? Fix it here

Email address
If you need to switch your email address, do it here.

Get one cragnet message per day
This is known as digest mode. You can set up your subscription so that the cragnet messages are compiled on a daily basis, and sent to you at the same time every day. This can be handy in reducing your inbox clutter. Most people would pick "Digest (traditional)", but feel free to experiment.
Temporarily stop receiving messages

If you are going away on vacation, it may be handier to have cragnet stop while you are away, rather than have your inbox get filled up. Under miscellaneous, click the option "Mail delivery disabled temporarily"
Receive copy of own messages

This is turned on by default, but some people prefer not to see their own posting.
