Definitions of Commonly Used Acronyms

Acronym Definition
SST Student Support Team – An appointment is scheduled for a student’s parents to meet with the Principal, teacher and learning support team to create an action plan tailored to ensure that student’s success in school academically, emotionally and socially.
IEP and 504 Plan These are individualized plans created to ensure that students receive educational services appropriate to their specific needs.
ELL English Language Learners – Students for whom English is not their first language.
ELD English Language Development – Targeted instruction aimed at teaching students to speak, write and read in English as they move toward full fluency in the language.
