Two-Way Immersion Program

Because our community is rapidly becoming more multi-cultural, we offer a Spanish/English Language Immersion program. This program allows English-speaking students to learn Spanish and Spanish-speaking students to learn English in the same classroom. The goal is to graduate fifth graders who are fluent and literate in both languages.

After considerable study and community engagement through on-site research, community forums, and the work of the Two-Way Immersion Task Force, the School Board voted in June 2012 that LeConte Elementary School would become a district-wide TWI school and all entering LeConte kindergartners would participate in the TWI program. The TWI Program at Cragmont will be phased out while the current TWI students complete their elementary education. There are no kindergarten, first, second, or third grade classrooms in the Two-Way Immersion program this year.
