Gracias!
Calling All Día de los Muertos Volunteers!
Cragmont's Día de los Muertos Celebration is coming up on 11/8 and our first planning meeting is happening on Thursday, 10/10 at 5:30 pm in the Cragmont library. Please help us plan this wonderful celebration. Ms. King has placed an Altar de Muertos, a community altar to remember our deceased loved ones, in the school’s foyer. If you'd like to contribute to the Altar de Muertos, please bring a photo of a deceased loved one and clearly label it on then back with your child's name and classroom number. Photos can be picked up on November 8th at the Dia de Los Muertos Celebration in the Multipurpose Room. For more information, please contact Karime Blanco or Ana Vasudeo. Thank you!
White Cane Awareness Day
“Tap tap tap” is the sound of independence. On 10/15, we will celebrate National White Cane Awareness Day to acknowledge the independence and skill of individuals with visual impairments. A universal symbol for identifying the visually impaired, the white cane provides users with feedback about walls, people, stairs, curbs, and other obstacles so they can navigate the world with confidence. More information will be available at school on 10/15.
All Are Welcome at the PTA General Meeting
Join us for the PTA General Meeting on 10/17. A pizza dinner will be served from 5:30 - 6:30 pm and our meeting will take place from 6:30 - 7:30. Khin Chin from the Berkeley Fire Department will discuss BUSD’s Safety Plan and offer “emergency bar” tastings. Can’t be there in person? Listen in by calling (605) 313-5111 Access Code: 416-518.
Keep it Clean with the Green Team
Join the Green Team at Shorebird Park Nature Center at 9 am on 10/19 to learn how we can reduce trash and plastics in our oceans and waterways and help clean up the beach. Buckets and gloves will be provided, but bring your own if you can to ensure we don’t run out. Click here to complete the child waiver in advance, or do so upon arrival. Adults must accompany children 15 years or younger. Hope to see you there!
Cragmont Book Fair @ Pegasus
Don’t miss Cragmont’s annual Book Fair on Sunday, 10/20 at Pegasus Books in North Berkeley (1855 Solano Avenue). Consult the wish lists provided by Cragmont teachers to purchase books for your student’s classroom. There will be snacks and teacher readings, and any purchases you make throughout the whole day will earn 30% in book credit for our school.
Rock on, Read-a-Thon
The Cragmont Read-a-Thon will be held the week of 10/21-10/25. Students can collect pledges for their home and school reading during the entire week. On Wednesday, 10/23 teachers will spend extra time reading in the classroom. Please check with your child's teacher about anything special for that day. If you would like to join the fun as a guest reader, or by helping in the classroom, sign up with your child’s teacher or room parent.
Boo! We Need You!
Click here to join the Haunted Hallway team. Lend your time and talent to convert part of our first floor into a fiendishly fun fright-fest. We need your help with set up + “scaring” + tear down. And fear not: we provide a shook-proof version for our youngest students.
