The Cragmont Read-a-Thon will be held the week of October 21st - 25th, 2019. The Read-a-thon is an important fundraiser for Cragmont to support various reading programs such as Muffin Mondays, Bagels & Books, Scholastic Book Faire events, Mock Newbery Book Club, Handwriting Without Tears Books and Digital Book programs.
The week before, parents can expect each student to bring home a Read-a-Thon packet. The packet includes instructions and a pledge form. Students are encouraged to email friends/family members and ask them for sponsorship. Pledges can be made by cash or check and placed in the provided envelopes or pledge online:
Students can collect pledges for their reading during the entire week (both for home and school reading). On Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019, teachers will spend extra time reading in the classroom. Please check with your child's teacher about anything special for that day. If you would like to join the fun as a guest reader, or by helping in the classroom, please contact your child’s teacher or room parent to sign up.
To kick off the Read-a-thon we also will be having our annual Book Fair the Sunday before (Oct 20th) at Pegasus Books on Solano Ave (1855 Solano Avenue). Your teachers will provide wish lists of books for your classroom to Pegasus and those books will be available for purchase. There will be snacks and teacher readings, and any purchases you make throughout the whole day will earn 30% in book credit for our school. So remember to mention Cragmont when shopping! You can actually mention Cragmont anytime over the entire weekend, and 30% of your purchase will be donated to Cragmont.
