R E M I N D E R! Calling All Party Planners!
This year’s auction is right around the corner (3/21). So join us tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. to brainstorm, strategize, and whip our biggest fundraiser into shape. We will meet in the lobby of Wurster Hall on the UC Berkeley campus (College @ Bancroft Way), then head to Jill Miller’s studio for our confab. If you can come, please contact Anne Ray via email: annecray@gmail.com or text: 415.269.1840. And if you can’t make it this time but want to be involved, let us know that, too.
Hot Chocolate for a Cooler Planet
Did you know that idling for just 10 seconds wastes more gas than restarting the engine? Tomorrow 2/25 from 8:30-9 a.m. members of the PTA and Green Team will distribute complimentary hot chocolate to thank parents for not idling in the drop-off zone and raise awareness about small changes we can all make to combat climate change. Bring your thermos, mug or any favorite reusable drink container.
Join Our Black History Celebration on 2/28!
You won't want to miss our celebration this Friday 2/28 from 6-8 pm in the Cragmont Multipurpose Room. Come enjoy student performances, motivational speakers, arts & crafts, dinner, music, dance and so much more! Register for the Mac-N-Cheese Competition by emailing your name and phone number to the BHM Committee at bhmcommittee@cragmont.org. Click here to join the team making it all happen!
Shout Out to the Mosaic Project
Many Cragmont students will tell you that a highlight of their school experience is the Mosaic Outdoor Project, a weeklong camp for 4th and 5th graders that offers engagement with nature and a curriculum focused on self-esteem, diversity and inclusion. Learn more about the Mosaic Project’s extensive outreach and hang with fellow Cragmont families at the nonprofit’s annual fundraising brunch on Saturday 2/29 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Oakland. The event is free and open to all, but donations are appreciated. Register online or reach out to Cragmont parents Kim Syer and Anne Ray—whose 4th graders are on the Children’s Board—for more information.
Green Teams Unite on 3/11!
Save the date! Join Green Teams from across the district at the BUSD board meeting on 3/11 @1231 Addison Street. Show your support for a proposal to switch to reusable food ware in Berkeley schools. It’s better for our children’s health, good for the planet and can save money. We will share more information soon, but please plan to show up and let the board know that we want to see an end to single use plastics in our schools.
Save the Date -- Cragmont Auction on 3/21
Please save the date for the Cragmont Auction on Saturday 3/21 from 6-10 pm. The auction isn't just our biggest fundraiser of the year, it's a chance to show off your dance moves, eat delicious food, laugh with friends and score some one-of-a-kind items. To comply with our alcohol license, this is a grown-ups-only event. Stay tuned for more information about the venue, ways to lend a hand and much more.
Cragmont Collects Box Tops for Education
Earn cash for Cragmont by collecting Box Tops from items you use every day — each Box Top is worth 10¢ for the school! Now there are two ways to collect them. Pink Box Tops are being phased out, but you may still find them on packages. Clip them and drop them in the Box Tops box in the school lobby. NEW! Box Tops is going digital. You’ll begin to see blue labels on packages. Don’t clip them, but download the Box Tops App and scan your store receipt for instant credit. More info here:
Sincerely,
Your Cragmont PTA
