Calling all Dragons!!
Get ready to READ READ READ with Cragmont’s Read-a-thon just around the corner!
What is a Read-a-Thon?!
This is a special time for our Dragons. All kids and families are encouraged to read (and be read to) to tally up as many minutes of reading time as possible. To support students’ reading efforts, friends and families can pledge money to support Cragmont’s literacy programs. No amount is too small or too big. We want everyone to have fun, get reading, and support Cragmont in the process.
Some key dates for your calendars:
November 1st to November 13th is when the official read-a-thon takes place. During this time, kids can tally up their reading times and pledges/donations to support can be made
November 4th (12-3pm) - Pegasus Bookstore on Solano Ave will hold a special read-a thon event where families can come and listen to teachers read their favorite stories
November 3rd to November 10th - Shop at any Pegasus bookstore (Solano, Shattuck or in Oakland) during these dates to support Cragmont! 30% of money spent at the store will support Cragmont’s literacy programs (just say you’re with Cragmont at checkout)! You can also buy teacher-requested books to donate to the school!
November 8th - Longfellow middle school will hold a literacy night. Everyone is welcome!
November 8th - All day read-a-thon in class for all Dragons!
All grades will be eligible to win class prizes based on two key metrics:
The class that tallies and submits the MOST reading minutes between November 1st and November 13th WINS A PRIZE!
The class that collectively raises the most funds between November 1st and November 13th WINS A PRIZE!
